Whether you want to buy your leased Subaru or are ready to turn-in your vehicle, Neil Huffman Subaru in Louisville is happy to help you prepare and complete your end-of-lease process. Your Subaru lease includes a variety of lease-end options for making the best decision for your individual situation. We are here to help make the process as seamless as possible!

Option 1: Buy Your Leased Subaru

If you love your leased Subaru and want to purchase it, you have that option! Your lease includes a pre-determined buyout price and Subaru even offers financing* and Subaru Added Security** extended coverage options.

If you purchase your leased Subaru, you don’t have to worry about paying for excess mileage or wear-and-tear on your vehicle. Just like the purchase of any vehicle, you would be responsible for taxes and other fees. Contact Neil Huffman Subaru for payoff information and guidance on applying for financing or considering other purchasing options.

Option 2: Return Your Subaru

If you don’t want to purchase your leased Subaru, you may return it. The following steps will help you finalize your current lease. First, make sure that all the original equipment is present in the vehicle when you return it. This includes all owner’s manuals, remotes, keys, airbags, stereo equipment, factory information, data CDs, and convertible top covers (if applicable).

Pre-Inspection Option

You may schedule a complimentary pre-inspection at no cost to you. You’ll need to schedule this at least 45 days prior to your turn-in date to be sure you receive an appointment that fits your schedule. It is easy to schedule an appointment online with AutoVIN, an independent vehicle inspection company. Pre-inspection appointments may be arranged at your home, office, or other convenient location. You may review a condition report online about 24-hours after the pre-inspection.

If you do not get a pre-inspection, we still will conduct an inspection after you turn-in your vehicle, and you will not have the opportunity to make repairs. Applicable excess wear and use charges will appear on your final Lease-End Invoice. See Excess Wear and Use for additional information.

Self-Inspection Option

Use the Subaru Wear and Use Guide to help you anticipate potential lease-end charges. This guide will help you evaluate the vehicle’s “normal” wear versus “excessive” wear, so you’ll know what to expect on turn-in day.

You’ll want to inspect the vehicle’s interior, exterior, wheels, tires, and mechanical functions. Under normal use, some wear and tear is expected. This may include small door dings, minor stains, or carpet wear. Yet, you may be charged for excessive damage or for mechanical systems that aren’t operating properly.

Before you return your leased Subaru, the interior should be clean and free of all rips or tears. The exterior should be free of all significant dents, scrapes, or major body damage. Tires and wheels should be in good condition with no damage, and everything on the vehicle should work properly. Upholstery holes, tears, burns or singes, excessive stains on the upholstery, carpet or interior panels, damage to the convertible top (like cuts, burns, singes, tears, or stains) are considered excessive wear.

Tires that have wear strips showing or wheels with major scuffs, “curb rash”, or missing hubcaps are considered excessive wear. Missing or dented body panels or large scrapes in the paint are considered excessive damage, as are malfunctioning or non-functioning mechanical systems. The dash should not display service or warning lights.

If you believe you have excess wear or use, you may consider having repairs made by either your preferred automotive shop, or you may choose to pay for the cost of repairs at your lease turn-in. Excess wear will be included in your Turn-In Settlement Invoice (unless you choose to repair the issues prior to vehicle return). If you decide to have any repairs completed prior to returning the vehicle, visit Subaru’s Lease-End Information page for instructions for submitting any repair receipts. This will help ensure charges are adjusted before you receive your Turn-In Settlement Invoice.

Next, it’s time to return your leased Subaru. Call Neil Huffman Subaru at (502) 448-6666 to schedule a time that works for you. At this appointment, we’ll review your inspection report along with the condition of the vehicle and ensure nothing has changed. After returning the vehicle, you will need to contact Subaru Motors Finance within one business day to provide them with your turn-in information.

Option #3: Purchase a New Subaru
