Subaru STARLINK is Now MySubaru Connected Services: What’s Changing?

While the name "STARLINK" has been synonymous with Subaru technology for years, the rebrand to MySubaru Connected Services aligns the vehicle’s tech more closely with the MySubaru App that owners already use daily.

Is Subaru STARLINK the same as MySubaru Connected Services? Yes. The features, safety tools, and remote capabilities remain the same; only the name has changed to provide a more unified experience within the MySubaru ecosystem.

The transition is seamless. If you had STARLINK, you still have the same "Peace of Mind" features under these new package names:
 

1. MySubaru Safety: This core package focuses on emergency situations and vehicle health.

- Automatic Collision Notification: If an airbag deploys, a representative is alerted immediately. 

- SOS Emergency Assistance: Press the red button in your overhead console for 24/7 help. 

- Enhanced Roadside Assistance: Press the blue "i" button for non-emergencies like a flat tire on I-64. 

- Diagnostic Alerts & Health Reports: Receive monthly emails on your Subaru’s "vitals." 

 

2. MySubaru Security: This adds the "convenience" tech most Louisville drivers love during our humid summers and cold winters.

 

- Remote Engine Start with Climate Control: Start your car and set the temperature from your phone. 

- Remote Lock/Unlock: Never wonder if you locked the doors at the Oxmoor Center again.

Do I need to download a new app? No. You will continue to use the MySubaru App (available on iOS and Android). You may see an update in the App Store that reflects the new "Connected Services" branding.

 

I just bought a 2026 Subaru; does the trial period still last 3 years?  If you are getting behind the wheel of a 2026 Subaru, you'll notice that the technology formerly known as STARLINK has been officially renamed to MySubaru Connected Services. Along with this new name comes an even better trial offer: owners of 2026 and newer models now receive a complimentary five-year free trial of the MySubaru Companion package (which replaces the old STARLINK Safety Plus). This includes critical safety features like Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance. It is important to note that the MySubaru Companion+ package (the new name for STARLINK Security Plus, which includes Remote Engine Start) may have a different trial length or promotional rate. To lock in these free services under the new MySubaru branding, you must enroll within 180 days of your purchase date.

 

What about STARLINK Multimedia? Your "STARLINK Multimedia" system (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the physical touchscreen) still carries the name for many 2024–2025 models, but the services provided through the internal SIM card are now under the MySubaru banner.
